Birmingham is gearing up for its inaugural major country festival, known as the Iron Hills Country Music Festival, scheduled for October 11th-12th at the Sloss Furnaces National Historical Landmark.
The festival’s organizers, Johnny Grimes, Chad Johnson, and Josh Williams, aim to craft an experience that transcends the usual music festival format. As devoted fans themselves, they understand that attendees seek both value and distinct experiences. Their vision for Iron Hills is to create a festival that features talented artists, delicious food and drinks, and an unforgettable atmosphere.
The choice of Sloss Furnaces as the venue was intentional. This historic site, which once symbolized Birmingham’s industrial past, offers a unique setting compared to standard country music venues. The organizers liken their impact on Birmingham’s music scene to that of the famous Gateway Arch in St. Louis.
To honor its historical significance, artisans from Sloss Metal Arts will conduct demonstrations of raw cast iron pouring during the festival, connecting the site’s history with the contemporary music and cultural landscape.
The two-day festival will showcase a blend of legendary musicians, chart-topping artists, and emerging talents.
