I am excited and honored to represent the people of Mohave County as your elected Mohave County Treasurer. We look forward to serving the county's needs as we move forward in the new year together.
February is a big eventful month for the Treasury. Mohave County's annual tax lien sale was scheduled for February 1-20.
A tax lien sale is an opportunity to pay delinquent taxes on someone else's property through an auction process in exchange for a tax lien. This process allows taxing agencies, such as fire departments, libraries, and school districts, to receive funds they otherwise would not have received.
The competitive process of online auctions often results in reduced interest on delinquent taxes, allowing buyers to earn a higher return on investment than the market for the small upfront cost of purchasing a lien. Overall, a tax lien sale is a great benefit to the county, taxpayers, and investors.
It is important to understand that a tax lien sale is simply an opportunity for someone to pay delinquent property taxes on behalf of the property owner in exchange for a lien on the property. A tax lien sale is not a complete sale of the property.
If you are interested in purchasing real estate outright, the annual tax deed sale may suit your needs.
A tax deed sale is an online auction where ownership of a property is awarded to the winning bidder. After the sale, the winning bidder will be provided with a release deed to legally transfer ownership.
The 2024 tax deed sale was submitted to the Board of Supervisors for approval Feb. 5. The auction is scheduled for March 4th to March 8th. A total of 2,911 lots are scheduled for the upcoming tax deed sale. If you are interested in getting involved, please see the Board Secretary's website for the latest information. www.mohave.gov.
Please note that the second payment deadline for 2023 property taxes is March 1, 2024, and the remaining taxes will become delinquent after May 1, 2024.
