Crash deaths increased in Arizona from 2021 to 2022

According to a study released by the Arizona Department of Transportation, there will be 1,294 traffic fatalities in Arizona in 2022, an 8.6% increase from 2021.

Studies have shown that the majority of lion casualties are due to speeding. Law enforcement recorded the second highest number of traffic fatalities in 2022, after 2006, when 1,301 people died, according to the study.

According to ADOT, the Motor Vehicle Crash Report is published annually and is an analysis of crash reports provided by state law enforcement agencies.

There will be more than 9,800 crashes in Pima County in 2022, 166 of which will be fatal. About 86,000 crashes occurred in Maricopa County, where Phoenix is ​​located. More than 600 of those were fatal, the report said.

According to the report, speed was responsible for 426 deaths and 20,069 injuries in 2022.

There were 302 pedestrian fatalities and 48 cyclist fatalities in the same year, both of which increased from the previous year.

Alcohol-related vehicular fatalities have declined, falling from 253 in 2021 to 223 in 2022, according to the report.
