The Towers Fire near Towers Mountain is now 100% contained, and Crown King was placed on evacuation alert for a short period of time.
CROWN KING, Ariz. — A small fire near Towers Mountain is no longer affecting homes or communication towers near Crown King, according to the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office. As of 10 a.m. May 11, the fire is 100% contained.
Early Thursday evening, residents of Crown King were placed in SET, or advance evacuation status.
The blaze, dubbed the Towers Fire, burned about two miles north of Crown King and encompassed 5 to 10 acres. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze using fire retardant, officials said.
“Resources are #TowersFire“Crews will continue to secure the tracks tonight and tomorrow,” the Prescott National Forest said in a statement Thursday night.
