How to protect plants
Freezing temperatures can damage exposed plants.
National Weather Service recommends:
- Bring sensitive plants indoors.
- Cover your outdoor plants with a variety of materials, including frost cloths, blankets, towels, cardboard boxes, liquid frost protection, and cactus styrofoam cups.
How to prevent the pipe from bursting
If the temperature drops to a freezing state, the pipes can burst due to the expansion of the water. According to consumer reports, one of the most common causes of property damage during frozen weather is one of the burst pipes.
According to American Red Cross And then, weather service, here’s how to prepare:
- If your garage has a water supply line, leave the garage door closed.
- Open kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors to allow warm air to circulate near the pipes.
- Cold water drips from faucets connected to exposed pipes outdoors or in unheated interior areas.
- Covers exposed pipes.
