Danny Masterson is in “administrative isolation” in prison for his safety.
Danny, the 47-year-old actor, was found guilty of drugging and raping two women in a retrial last month in Los Angeles and faces up to 30 years in prison. He is being held in the Men’s Central Prison and is awaiting sentencing. .
TMZ reports that Danny is not incarcerated with the general population and is instead being held in “administrative isolation” for his own safety.
This is the same unit where celebrities such as Suge Knight and O.J. Simpson have previously stayed.
Masterston, best known for starring in That ’70s Show, was found guilty by a jury of seven women and five men. But the jury did not reach a verdict on a third count of charges in which Masterson allegedly raped her longtime girlfriend.
During the trial, Masterson was charged with raping three women at his Hollywood Hills home between 2001 and 2003, and is accused of drugging the women before assaulting them.
It is also alleged that Mr. Masterson (although he did not testify) used his ties to the Church of Scientology to shield himself from its influence for years.
The women claimed they were threatened, harassed and stalked by the church.
His team, meanwhile, argued that the act was consensual. They also questioned the credibility of the witnesses.
Masterson faces a retrial in Los Angeles in 2022 after the jury failed to reach a verdict.
Judge Charlaine F. Olmedo declared a miscarriage of justice after lengthy deliberations by the jury.
“I think the jury is hopelessly stuck,” the judge said at the time.
