DAVID BLACKMON: Dire Energy Costs Of A Kamala Harris Presidency

Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, appeared on The View this week and raised a huge issue for herself. Asked by the very friendly host Sunny Hostin what she would have done differently than President Joe Biden, Harris surprisingly replied, “I can’t think of anything.”

Really? Is there nothing? Don’t have one?

This is a problem for Harris, who has served as Biden’s vice president for almost four years, given that she is trying to present herself as a.changeOne thing everyone agrees on is that election cycles will change. most Americans are fed up direction The Biden-Harris administration has the country in its hands and is looking for someone to change its direction.

But the Democratic candidates can’t think of anything they would have done differently had they been president starting in 2021. That’s a problem.

Let’s consider what that means on the topic of energy. Since 2021, the folks at the Institute for Energy Research (IER) have I saved the list Some of the things the Biden-Harris administration has done to make it harder to produce oil and gas in the United States. That list, now numbering no fewer than 250 items, began when Biden brazenly canceled the Keystone XL pipeline on his first day in office, immediately undermining America’s energy security. The list goes on and on from there. (Related: David Blackmon: Kamala Harris’ energy answer to Dana Bash insults everyone’s intelligence)

Does that mean we can expect more pipeline cancellations in Harris’s term without any substantive basis in law? What do you think? drainage of What is the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve? Harris herself said that in the run-up to the 2022 midterm elections, Biden would raid this reserve for purely political reasons, damaging a critical tool intended to provide national security during a national emergency. gave and supported what was at stake. Lowest level in 40 years. Does Harris’ answer mean we can expect her to drain SPR to even lower levels?

What about Biden’s absurd “pause” on permitting much-needed LNG export infrastructure for 10 months? Can we expect this “pause” to become a permanent feature of the Harris administration? If she really can’t think of doing anything else, that certainly seems like a possibility.

The Biden-Harris Interior Department has spent four years steadfastly refusing to comply with federal land lease law requirements for regular oil and gas lease sales both onshore and offshore. Should we expect this mocking attitude to continue for another four years under Harris-Waltz?

The Biden-Harris administration has ignored pleas from energy developers of all stripes to work to streamline and simplify permitting processes and requirements. This pressing need has been voiced not only by oil and gas companies, but also by wind developers, solar companies, and even Elon Musk and other electric car manufacturers. A pledge to make a bipartisan effort to accomplish something in this area would have been the lowest hanging fruit Harris could use in answering Hostin’s questions. But no, nothing came to the Vice President’s head. (Related: America’s electricity supply could be insufficient to meet demand in 10 years, says major consulting firm)

Speaking of automakers, what about the backlash the Biden-Harris EPA is receiving from traditional auto companies regarding overly restrictive rules related to tailpipe emissions and mileage requirements? Does Harris’ statement that she won’t do anything different mean we can expect further crackdowns on these car companies under President Harris Walz?

The Biden-Harris Department of Transportation had the following slush funds: 7 billion dollars Build a nationwide network of 500,000 EV fast charging stations. According to the latest report, only eight such stations have been successfully installed in three years. Does Harris’ answer to Hostin mean we can expect another four years of this breathtaking level of waste and incompetence?

With just three weeks until Election Day and early voting already well underway, these are real and relevant questions someone should ask Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. is. The cost of a president who maintains the status quo where energy and energy security are concerned will be dire, and voters deserve some real answers.
