Editor: Kiwanis of Lake Havasu would like to thank the orchids in the Sunday, July 9th edition of the Today’s News Herald.
For those who may have missed it, a reader gave the Kiwanis Stars and Stripes Program an orchid for every flag lining McCulloch Boulevard on Independence Day on July 4th. Orchid should go to Lake Havasu City’s Daybreakers Lions Club to plant his 200+ flags on McCulloch Boulevard on Independence Day and other appropriate holidays. The Daybreakers Lions Club volunteers their time and resources to put on this beautiful display of patriotism along Main Street.
Kiwanis of Lake Havasu manages the Kiwanis American Flag Program in partnership with the Lake Havasu High School Booster Club, Telesis Sports, and many youth organizations in the city, including Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Sea Scouts. On many of the same holidays he hoists more than 800 American flags.
This partnership is a fundraiser for the many youth groups who volunteer to help Kiwanis plant flags in their homes and company gardens seven holidays a year.
Kiwanis then donates program funds to youth groups through direct donations and scholarships. For more information on this program, please contact Kiwanis at 928-733-9803.
