During his time with the Denver Broncos, Eyoma Uwazrike allegedly bet on five Denver Broncos games and two on Iowa State.
A formal complaint filed Tuesday in Story County, Iowa, also includes other former Cyclones teammates.
Uwazrike, 25, faces charges of record falsification stemming from allegations of gambling, along with returning starter Hunter Deckers. Deckers’ attorneys said he will not play or practice while defending against charges including record-tampering, an aggravated misdemeanor.
Wwazrike was suspended indefinitely by the NFL last week for game gambling. He was the 116th overall pick in the 2022 draft.
Iowa prosecutors allege that Uwazrike made 801 bets online for more than $21,300, including four bets on Iowa State football games. He also bet on at least one NFL game he played as a rookie in 2022, against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 15.
Uwazrike, Deckers, and two other Iowa State players named in the complaint are scheduled to appear in court on August 16.
