Deadline approaching for SRP’s ‘Grants for Teachers’

The Salt River Project is offering grants of up to $200,000 for teachers to use in their classrooms.

Educators looking for ways to enhance classroom engagement and teaching can apply for the SRP “Grants for Teachers.” It provides up to $5,000 per school for projects and programs that teach math and science strategies and meet the performance standards set forth in the Arizona Academic Standards. According to a press release.

Additionally, history and social science grants are available up to $2,500 per educator to help enrich and strengthen classroom instruction in history, geography, civics, government, and economics.

All educators at public and non-profit private schools in Metropolitan Phoenix, Pinal County, Gila County, Yavapai County, Page, St. John’s, and Navajo Power Station community chapters are eligible for SRP Classroom Connection grants .

The deadline for teachers to apply for this SRP grant is Tuesday, February 28th. Information can be found at: www.srpnet.com/grants or call or email 602-236-2798, or education@srpnet.com.

Here are some past examples of how teachers are using grants:

  • Gilbert’s Gilbert High School, $3,500: The funds were used to implement the CASTLE program: Capacitor Support System for Electrical Education and Learning.
  • Stapley Jr. Mesa High School, $5,000: Purchased equipment to help eighth graders understand how to convert solar energy into usable electrical energy.
  • Clayton Academy in Phoenix, $5,000: Materials were purchased to build science and STEM labs with force and motion kits, robotics, gravity-related items, and physiological materials.

In addition to providing free training and resources to educators across the state, SRP donates more than $2.4 million to education initiatives, grants and partnerships throughout Arizona.
