The Long Island, N.Y., high school football player is currently on life support after he reportedly collapsed earlier this week during a conditioning exercise on the Newfields High School grounds.
Reportedly, 17-year-old Robert Bush suffered a “heart attack” at around 5 p.m. news day I got this information from my brother Steve Bush.
After the coaches performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation and shocks from a defibrillator, they were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital by paramedics, but Bush ended up with blood and oxygen to his brain for at least 45 minutes. I was in a situation where I couldn’t.
“No more brain function,” his brother said Thursday, adding that he was on life support. “We are now working towards the end.”

The exact cause of Bush’s collapse is unknown at this time, but Newsday said his family may have suffered from a genetic condition that causes the heart’s left ventricular wall to thicken.
Over time, your heart beats or doesn’t get enough blood with each beat.
Family members told Newsday that Bush showed no signs of heart disease. (Related: Former NFL star Cedric Killings dies at 45)
Bush joined the football team to improve his health and conditioning, his brother said.
“He’s short, so we always said to him, ‘You look like Rudy,'” Steve said. He cited the classic 1993 film about a college failer chasing his dream of playing football at Notre Dame.
