DeBoer borrows famous line: ‘We’re not rebuilding, we’re reloading’

Appearing on The Pat McAfee Show last Wednesday, Alabama head coach Karen DeBoer borrowed a famous saying that has been floating around Tuscaloosa since Nick Saban started winning championships.

McAfee asked DeBoer about the pressure of coming to the South and replacing Nick Saban.

“I've had success in a lot of places and I feel like that can carry over. A lot of times it's about building around people and relationships. X's and O's, football is football,” DeBoer said.

“Instead of waiting, we're excited to build all these relationships and make this season successful. We're not rebuilding, we're reloading.”

As for reloading, DeBoer is starting to steady the ship after what looked like a rocky start. He made two moves from Washington last week to positions of need, and last Wednesday received perhaps the biggest addition news yet.

After receiving the crystal ball that afternoon that the Tide would land Saraland star Ryan “Hollywood” Williams perhaps the most talented wide receiver in high school football, Williams then committed to the Crimson Tide on Wednesday night. announced their involvement.

Many consider Williams to be the best player at his position out of Alabama. Ironically, it was Nick Saban's first major contribution since his arrival since Julio Jones.

Even bigger than Williams' pure talent, Devore took over less than two weeks ago, re-securing the commitment of one of the state's most valuable prospects over the likes of Hugh Freeze and Steve. The fact is that it did. Sarkisian.

Think “reload” is enabled.
