Alabama head coach Karen DeBoer's system has been one of the biggest questions since he took the job.

After potential first-round pick Michael Penix had back-to-back dominant seasons under DeBoer in Washington, the focus quickly became, “How does Jalen Milroe fit into this offense?” Ta.

With DeBoer not only bringing in Austin Mack from Washington, but also Ty Simpson and Dylan Lonergan remaining in the room, will there be a battle for quarterback, or will Mack be more familiar with DeBoer's system? It was easy to ask if he would bring him into the starting lineup.

However, according to DeBoer himself, he intends to adjust the offense to suit who his quarterback will be.

“Whatever the quarterback's skill set is, we'll adapt to that. He's certainly a guy who can get the ball to the skill set around him. There's 11 players on both sides of the ball on the football field. We're going to play each position to the max. That can be done in a variety of ways. What I want is a team that can get the ball to all the skill positions, and also the team that we have. I want people to look at the different skill sets that they have,” DeBoer said.

“Obviously everyone looks at Jalen and takes note of his mobility and ability to move the football. It's an added weapon. It makes everyone around him better as well.” “The eyes are on the backfield. There are many different ways to do it,'' he continued.

“You want a calm player, a player who has confidence when the big moment comes and his teammates can feel that. As a quarterback, there are things you can do beyond your skill set of leading a football team. I think that comes with repetition, confidence, great preparation and a guy who brings it every day, every moment, and the team feeds off of him.”

Regardless of who the starting quarterback ends up being, Milroe doesn't appear to be at a disadvantage for the job.

It's going to be interesting to monitor it through spring practice.
