On Thursday, an AI-generated image of Taylor Swift in a sexually explicit pose went viral on social media, prompting her fans, known as Swifties, to jump to her defense.
“Taylor Swift AI” has been trending on Twitter since Thursday morning, with more than 58,000 posts. The New York Post reported.
The images, called “deepfakes,” show Swift naked with Kansas City Chiefs players and hint at a relationship with the team's tight end, Travis Kelce.
President Joe Biden issued an executive order in October regulating the use of AI and preventing the production of child pornography and “non-consensual intimate images,” according to the New York Post.Several states have banned non-consensual AI-generated images, but federal legislation to do the same is still working its way through Congress. Now, Swifties are rallying to protect their idols, flooding social media with positive Taylor-related posts to drown out porn, while also stopping blatant non-consensual deepfakes. They are also demanding that parliamentarians intervene.
