The two most powerful Democrats in Congress — Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and minority leader Haicum Jeffries — tweeted Wednesday, setting up a meeting with Zoran Mamdani, a socialist New York City nominee who won the Democratic primary on Tuesday.

Schumer also promoted his previous collaboration with Mamdani. The pair released a 2 minute video To demonstrate assistance to taxi drivers in New York City in 2021 We formed a team They protest against the proposed power plant in Queens earlier that year. Mamdani defeated former Democrat New York Governor Andrew Cuomo in Tuesday night’s Democratic primary, earning more than 43% of his first choice in the city’s ranked electoral election. Cuomo scored just 36%.
Self-recognized democratic socialists proposed wages of at least $30, city-run grocery stores, free public transport and reduced police overtime budgets. He previously advocated police refunds and boycotts, sales and sanctions (BDS). Movementaccording to X’s 2020 post.
BDS is a movement aimed at preventing US consumers from supporting Israeli businesses.
