California Rep. Dave Min Stands by Controversial Comments
California Representative Dave Min has not retracted his social media comments suggesting that the individual accused of attacking Charlie Kirk is linked to the “MAGA” movement.
On September 13, Min made a post on social media stating, “Now that the Charlie Kirk assailant has been identified as a member of his movement, Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and other GOP figures who have called for backlash against the ‘radical left’ will need to focus on addressing the violence from the radical right.” This statement was made on X.
Min’s remarks received swift criticism. One user responded by saying, “When I first came across this, I thought it was just another unreliable tweet, but it turns out it’s from a member of Congress. Honestly, we’re not changing our viewpoint.”
In another tweet, a user noted that Min had not deleted his controversial post.
Meanwhile, Utah Governor Spencer Cox addressed comments from the suspect Tyler Robinson’s relatives, suggesting that Kirk is “full of hate and spreading hatred.” Authorities reportedly found ammunition with messages including “Hey, fascist! Catch!” and casings engraved with lyrics from an anti-fascist song.
Christian Martinez, a spokesperson for the National Republican Congressional Committee, criticized Min’s comments, labeling him as a “reckless conspiracy theorist” who misuses tragedies for political gain. “Californians deserve better than a lawmaker whose remarks distract from his own failures,” he added.
This criticism also brings up Min’s previous drunk driving arrest in 2023, where he was caught driving a state vehicle while under the influence. He later commented that his actions were “irresponsible.”
As of now, Min has not publicly responded to the backlash regarding his statements about Kirk’s alleged assailant.
