YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – US Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego

Phoenix announced today that it will challenge independent US Senator Kirsten Cinema in 2024.

Be the first contender to jump into the race, setting up a potential three-way race.

When I spoke with Ruben Gallego, he said he wanted to fight for “ordinary people” who are struggling to make ends meet and have lost faith in politicians.

“I was just talking about the American Dream, and there are so many people right now feeling hopeless about what their future holds, and I think they need someone to fight for them in Washington, D.C. believe.

The 43-year-old veteran, who was first elected to Congress in 2014, made no secret of her interest in trying out Kirsten Cinema.
“I don’t think Kirsten Cinema has a way to win, whether I join it or not. She alienated a lot of Arizonians and lost the trust of Arizonians,” Gallego said.

Gallego says he and Sinema both came from “halfway,” but he believes they’ve gone their separate ways in Congress.

Cinema quit the Democratic Party in December and registered as an independent.

If Gallego becomes a Senator, he has stated that he would like to provide Yuma with the necessary resources.
“So we’re trying to bring resources into Yuma County because they’re dealing with a massive influx of refugees, and county taxpayers shouldn’t be on the hook to deal with this. said Gallego.

He says he has visited Yuma several times and plans to return soon.
“And I think when people hear me talk, they hear my message, they hear my background, they want to trust me,” says Gallego.

At this time, Cinema has not disclosed whether it plans to run for a second term.

We reached out to Cinema about Gallego participating in the race, but she declined to comment.

And Republicans are not in the race for Senate seats.
