“Debbie is urgently needed in the U.S. Senate. Her story, an immigrant who came to America with her mother at the age of 14 in search of the American Dream, is the story of many Floridians,” BOLD PAC Chairman said. Democratic California Representative Linda Sanchez said in a statement to Politico.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer discussed the possibility of a 2024 presidential election with Mukherser-Powell. The Democratic Senate Election Committee had planned to poll Mukasser-Powell’s chances of winning in July, Politico reported.
Scott, who was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2018, is already campaigning for re-election, according to Politico. Scott has served two terms as governor of Florida and has personally saved millions of dollars that can be used for the 2024 campaign.
“If the Florida Democrats think the solution to their problem is to have a radically liberal ex-Rep. is even worse. I wish them luck,” said Priscilla Ivasco, Scott’s communications director, Politico reported.
Mukhersel-Powell and Scott did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
