Denver Broncos Drop Russell Wilson Like A Hot Potato, And I Don’t Blame ‘Em

The Denver Broncos are set to release their superstar quarterback when free agency begins in late March. Russell Wilsonaccording to a statement Monday from the franchise.

“We spoke with Russell Wilson today and advised him that he will be released after the start of the league year,” general manager George Payton and head coach Sean Payton said in a joint statement. “On behalf of the Broncos, I would like to thank Russell for his service and dedication to our team and community and wish him the best as he continues his career.”

In a separate statement, Wilson thanked his teammates and Broncos fans for their support.

“For the past two years, you have welcomed my family and me with open arms and accepted us as part of the Denver community,” Wilson said. “This city will always hold a special place in my heart. Our family grew up here, creating countless memories and friendships, and forming relationships that will last a lifetime.”

“Hard times don't last long, but tough people do. God got me. I can't wait to see what happens next.”

The relationship between the Broncos and Russ was a disaster from the beginning, with just too much bad football. It had to end.
