Deputy, coach who died honored by Arizona Little League teams

On Wednesday night, Hubble's team honored their coach by writing his name in the dirt during practice.

CHINO VALLEY, Ariz. — Want to know what leadership looks like in your country and your community? Let us tell you about Coach Hubble.

Yavapai County Sheriff's Office Deputy Jess Hubble passed away early Wednesday morning at the age of 47 due to natural causes.

Prior to being hired by YSCO in July 2017, Lieutenant Hubble was a decorated Navy officer. In 2007, he was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for Heroism for rescuing a Navy pilot whose helicopter had crashed into the ocean.

But this hero has another name… Coach.

Coach Hubble was an active youth sports volunteer with Chino Valley Little League for over 10 years. At the time of his passing, he coached three Little League softball teams ranging in age from 8 to 17 years old.

On Wednesday night, his team paid tribute to their former coach by writing Coach Hubble's name in the dirt during practice.

During the baseball and softball seasons, Coach Hubble could often be found on the field practicing with his team every night. In the fall and winter, he coached youth football in Chino Valley and helped run youth basketball tournaments in the winter.

The Chino Valley Little League is working with the city of Chino Valley on plans to open a playing field in his honor.
