PHOENIX — A former Arizona lawmaker shot and killed a man Tuesday who is believed to have killed his estranged wife during a domestic violence incident, authorities said.
The officer who intervened is still a reserve deputy after retiring from the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO). Reserve members are unpaid volunteers but meet similar conditions. training standards As a paid officer.
Authorities said the deputy became involved after hearing an altercation at a home near the home in the Wildwood Estates area of Prescott.

The sheriff’s office requested the Arizona Department of Public Safety to oversee the investigation into the incident.
Yavapai County Sheriff David Rose said he is grateful to authorities like the deputy who intervened.
