HOLBROOK, Arizona — One person was killed on October 2 in a head-on collision with a deputy at the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 4 p.m. Sunday, the Navajo County legislator was hit head-on by an oncoming vehicle while driving north on State Route 377 near Milepost 24, the NCSO said in a release.
The lieutenant was able to break out of the crushed patrol force and begin directing traffic until another NCSO lieutenant arrived on the scene and identified two individuals in the other vehicle.
The red Camaro’s agent and driver were taken to a local hospital for further treatment.
The Camaro’s passengers eventually died from injuries sustained in the car crash.
The agent was treated for minor injuries and discharged. The Camaro driver was airlifted to Flagstaff Medical Center and listed as in serious condition. The investigation is being conducted by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
“Always fasten your seatbelt, obey speed limit signs, be safe when overtaking, and never cross a no-passing zone,” the sheriff’s office said.
