Hugh Freeze was named offensive coordinator.
Derrick Nix, who spent more than 16 years at Ole Miss in positions including associate head coach, wide receivers coach and running backs coach, will be leaving Oxford for Auburn as the Tigers' next offensive coordinator.
Freeze announced earlier this offseason that he would call the plays himself, but Nix has proven invaluable to Ole Miss not only as a position coach but also as a recruiter.
He has been recognized as a lead recruiter for over 20 four-star recruits and at least three five-star recruits. His recruiting ability at Mississippi State is well-known and will help Freese and Auburn's staff continue to expand in-state.

Freeze previously worked with Nix during his time at Ole Miss, where he also wrote his own plays. At the time, Nix was the Rebels' running backs coach.
Current Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin released a statement on Twitter about Nix's departure, thanking him for his “invaluable contributions and dedication to the success we achieved at Ole Miss.” .
