Detailed Report: Willcox Border Patrol agent faces charges for child sex trafficking and fraud against the government

Tucson Border Patrol Agent Charged with Child Sex Trafficking

Tucson, Ariz. – A Border Patrol agent is facing over a dozen felony charges linked to child sex trafficking and fraud. An extensive internal investigation by the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) uncovered troubling evidence against Bert Yager.

Yager, age 39, is currently in custody, having been tied to serious allegations regarding child sex trafficking and fraud. A grand jury has indicted him, and the Cochise County Attorney’s Office is proceeding with the case.

In June, federal agents executed a search warrant at Yager’s home in Willcox. Footage from a ring camera, obtained by local media, shows the moments leading to his arrest, which stemmed from evidence linking him to fraud and child sex trafficking, among other crimes.

The following week, a grand jury returned an indictment against Yager, including 17 counts and two additional fraud charges associated with child sex trafficking and pandering. The investigation, which began in September 2023, initially looked into Yager’s misrepresentation of allocations and suspected inappropriate payments. During this process, evidence emerged that he had engaged in sexual activities with a minor.

The indictment states that Yager had sexual relations with minors aged 15 to 17 between July 2023 and February 2024. He also faces several counts for allegedly pressuring others into prostitution.

Sierra Dobel, a former resident of Wilcox, expressed her concerns about Yager. “Honestly, I always felt uneasy around him,” she remarked. “Now that I have two kids, I wouldn’t want them near him if he were free.” Dobel hopes for a severe sentence if Yager is found guilty, stating, “I want him to serve time and face the consequences of his actions.”

In response to the incident, CBP released a statement to highlight its commitment to integrity and honor. “Most of our employees fulfill their duties with distinction, working hard every day to keep our nation safe,” the statement mentioned. It also stressed that Yager is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

Yager is currently being held on a $250,000 bond as he awaits trial, with a return to Cochise County Superior Court scheduled for August. Local news will continue to follow the updates on this case.
