The New York Times, The Athletic, it’s all a joke.
Specifically for the NYT’s Athletic Brand, on Tuesday it released a ranking of the atmosphere at teams’ home stadiums from best to worst during the MLB postseason. The last of the eight organizations to appear was the Detroit Tigers and their Comerica Park.
And no one took it more personally than 3-1-3. (Related: New York Mets earn their ticket to the NLCS in a dysfunctional way)
Accordingly, by doing so within them; First playoff game in 10 years at The DTigers fans flocked to Comerica on Wednesday to a capacity crowd of 44,885, the largest in the stadium’s postseason history. To add fuel to the fire, Detroit 3-0 victory They led the Cleveland Guardians with a 2-1 lead in the American League Division Series (ALDS).
Ah, but that’s not all. The Tigers trolled The Athletic midway through the game and posted a screenshot of the rankings on the video board. They also immediately made the situation even better by attacking it in a tweet you can see here, declaring themselves “the best playoff atmosphere in baseball.”
Talk about a complete OWN.
