Disney And ESPN Are Making A Documentary About The 2020 NBA ‘Bubble’ Playoffs, But Will We Get The Full Juice?

This can be something amazing if done right.

2020 has been a tough time to live through as the COVID-19 pandemic raged across the globe. As we all know, the virus shut down the entire world, making daily life a very strange experience for literally everyone. The NBA was no exception, and it had to suspend its season. March 11.

However, the league ultimately came to an agreement on the possibility of continuing the campaign, with the remainder of the 2019-20 season set to be played in “the bubble” at Walt Disney World Resort. The NBA received a fair amount of criticism for the move, but it worked for the most part, with the Los Angeles Lakers ultimately being crowned champions.

Fast forward to 2024, and Disney and ESPN are now producing a documentary about what “bubble” life was like during the postseason.

I want to be excited about this documentary, but at the same time I'm worried that Disney and ESPN (and maybe the NBA) will leave out a lot of stuff that will “tarnish” their brands, which is probably what will happen given how much corporate activity is going on in this film.

But if I'm wrong, and I hope to God I am, this could be one of the best documentaries ESPN has ever produced.
