Gina Carano Settles Lawsuit with Disney and Lucasfilm
Actress Gina Carano reached a settlement with Disney and Lucasfilm on Thursday, following her 2024 lawsuit against the companies after her dismissal from “The Mandalorian.” The legal dispute lasted over a year and Carano described the outcome as “the best result for all involved parties,” extending thanks to billionaire Elon Musk and her legal team.
In a heartfelt message, Carano expressed, “I hope this brings some healing to the force. I am humble and grateful to God for His love and grace in this outcome. I would like to thank you for your relentless support throughout my life and career.” She also mentioned her eagerness to move forward, stating, “I am excited to flip the page and move on to the next chapter, and my desires remain in the art.”
Carano first shared details of the lawsuit on X last year, noting that Musk had offered legal support for those who felt wronged after being dismissed for voicing their opinions on the platform.
The lawsuit originated from Carano’s February 2021 firing from the “Star Wars” series due to controversial posts she made on social media. At the time, she equated her treatment to being “a Jewish during the Holocaust.” Lucasfilm subsequently announced there were no future employment plans for her.
After the dismissal, Carano’s representation, United Talent Management, also severed ties with her. She referred to the situation as a “smear campaign,” arguing she was pushed out due to her views, which didn’t align with the prevailing narrative at the time. “The truth is that I was cornered from everything I posted on every post I liked,” she remarked in 2024.
