District of Arizona | Southern Arizona Human Smuggling Coordinator Pleads Guilty

Tucson, Arizona – Tyler Myers, 25, of Sierra Vista, Arizona, announced on April 3, 2023 in connection with his role as coordinator of a human smuggling organization operating in the Tucson and Sierra Vista areas of Arizona. , pleaded guilty in federal court. Specifically, Myers pleaded guilty to conspiracy to transport illegal aliens for profit.

Between 2018 and 2022, Myers conspired to transport undocumented non-citizens for profit at least 13 times. Myers utilized his Snapchat and Telegram social media applications to recruit drivers and manage, oversee and coordinate smuggling, often in real time.

U.S. Border Patrol agents and Cochise County Sheriff’s Officers have arrested at least 44 undocumented non-citizens who were transported in southern Arizona in connection with Myers’ role in the conspiracy.

Conviction of conspiracy to transport illegal aliens for commercial purposes carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, a maximum fine of $250,000, or both.

Judgment will be set before U.S. District Judge Scott H. Rush on June 12, 2023.

The investigation in this case was conducted by the U.S. Border Patrol of Customs and Border Protection. The US Attorney’s Office for the Arizona District of Tucson is handling the prosecution.
