The European Parliament’s Special Committee on the Shield of European Democracy is Hearing Discusses Russian disinformation, cyber attacks, espionage and other hybrid threats targeting Europe. During the hearing, Jankovic appealed to the EU leader.

“I would like to ask you to stand firm against another dictatorship, the United States. The Trump administration is definitely preparing a pressure campaign to force EU agencies to roll back regulations like the DSA. [Digital Services Act]to end support for Ukraine and stop explaining Russia,” Jankovic said. “Don’t surrender, we’ll hold the line. Doing so means that the European Union is the clearest signal that they can send to Russia and other enemies, and that they won’t stop fighting to maintain democracy at home and around the world.”

“Anti-democratic regimes such as Russia, China and Iran are taking advantage of this environment and are launching intervention campaigns aimed at undermining most turbulent and democratic processes,” Jankovic said. “And then, their own anti-democratic forces have launched coordinated campaigns to undermine researchers, journalists, supporters and civil servants who work to expose lies. The confluence of these forces embraced several democratic responses to the strategic threats we discuss here for today.”

Jankovic also criticized Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

“Last week, Secretary of State Marco Rubio was pleased to announce that in the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is obliterating the offices that are tasked with tracking and responding to foreign information, manipulation and interference,” Jankovic said. “Many other US government agencies have been dismantled in the same way in the months since President Trump took office. Everything is pose as protecting freedom of speech and citing to end censorship.”

Members of the European Parliament were gathering to deal with the escalation of Russian threats, including targeted cyberattacks, energy-terrifying mail, and a coordinated spread of disinformation across member states. The hearing highlighted how Russia unfolds spies, obstructions and assassinations to destabilise the West.

Despite these clear and current dangers, Jankovic chose to concentrate firepower in the US, reflecting the pattern from her time in Washington.

In line with that idea, Jankovich stood by the 51 Intelligence veterans who signed a letter casting doubt on the Hunter Biden laptop story, calling it a valid expression of free speech.
