A Georgia mayor was reportedly held at gunpoint for allegedly trespassing on the home he dreamed of owning.
South Fulton Mayor Khalid Kamau was arrested around 6:52 on Saturday morning after a man called police about an intruder at his home on Cascade Palmetto Highway (WSB-TV) report.
Officers arrived at the scene and were told by the home owner that they had been notified by mobile phone that Ca Mau was on the premises. The owner of the house quickly dressed and reportedly observed Kamau walking down the driveway towards the lakeside house before entering the house.
Before Kamau left the house, the homeowner reportedly fled in a truck to call the police, who reportedly held Kamau at gunpoint and told him to “stay where he was.” It is said that
Kamau then allegedly yelled at the owner of the house, “Do you know who I am?” I’m the mayor, so I’m going to wait until the police arrive and see what happens after that. ” (Related: Report: Trespasser arrested at Taylor Swift’s mansion)

Kamau told authorities he had intended to go to the dog park, but took a detour to reach his dream home. The mayor reportedly told police he knew he was trespassing, and when he left the house, the owner of the house told him, “No, you bastard, stay there.” It is said that he stated that
Kamau later tried to identify himself as the homeowner, but claimed the victim held a gun and said, “If you take another step, I’ll shoot you.”
“Are you going to shoot me while I’m leaving?” Kamau told police he told the homeowner, according to WSB-TV.
Kamau was held in Fulton County Jail on charges of trespassing and first-degree robbery and was released Saturday afternoon after posting $11,000 bail, reports said.
An investigation into this incident is ongoing.
