Attorney General Pam Bondy told Daily Call exempts schools that comply with the president’s executive order banning biological men from women’s sports from administration lawsuits against Maine’s education division.
The Justice Department sued the Maine Department of Education on Wednesday after the state failed to comply with an executive order banning Trump’s executive order from women’s sports. One Maine school board, MSAD #70, unanimously ignored the governor on Monday and complied with federal law. Bondi told callers that schools like MSAD #70 would be exempt from lawsuits and further penalties. (Related: Gov. “I think it was a very brave and bold thing on that school board, and we saw it too,” Bondy told the caller at a press conference Monday.
“Again, what we wanted was compliance, so yes, they won’t chase after seeing them in this lawsuit.
MSAD #70 unanimously ignored the governor on Monday and voted to follow Title IX.

In February, Democrat Janet Mills publicly vowed while visiting the White House to bring the Trump administration to court about the February enforcement. “As a result, the Department of Justice has no choice but to take action against erasing women and girls in sports,” she continued. “Maine Democrats have doubled the left agenda, with students and families poised to lose federal funds in hundreds of millions of people. Their radical gender ideology puts the ongoing presence of women’s sport and the penalty of Maine’s citizens at risk for the will of Maine citizens.”
