Dolly Parton discovered she was related to a world-famous pop star she already knows and loves.
Ancestry revealed that Parton is related to her goddaughter, Miley Cyrus. The big news was announced during an interview with Access Hollywood that aired on September 23. Though Parton and Cyrus have shared an incredibly close bond since Cyrus was born, the two famous singers had no idea they were actually related.
Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus are “seventh-generation cousins,” Ancestry said in a statement.
Their common ancestor was John Brickey, who was born in Virginia in 1740.
The commentary on ancestry results continued, with more information being shared about unexpected genealogy results.
According to the video, Brickley moved with his family to Blount County, about 20 miles from Dollywood, and died there in 1806. His ancestors came from France. According to Entertainment Weekly.
