Doug Harwell receives endorsement for Alabama Senate District 34 from the Alabama Associated General Contractors

The Alabama Associated Contractors Political Action Committee (AGCPAC) has announced its endorsement of Doug Harwell for State Senate District 34.

Currently, District 34 is represented by Sen. Jack W. Williams (R-Wilmer), who has served since 2018. However, Williams is not running for re-election in 2026 as he pursues a position in the Agriculture and Industry Commission.

As the oldest and largest trade association in Alabama’s commercial construction sector, AGC aims to connect companies with qualified contractors who are committed to standards of skill, integrity, and responsibility.

According to AGC, government issues significantly impact the industry, making it crucial to select individuals who are knowledgeable about these challenges for the industry’s success.

Doug Harwell is a licensed general contractor across Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida. AGC acknowledges the difficulties facing the commercial construction field. Harwell founded Harwell & Company in 2010 with just four employees, and it has grown to employ over 40 people today.

“We are proud to support Doug Harwell in his bid for the Alabama Senate. His background as a contractor and a member of Alabama AGC provides him with a distinct perspective on our industry and the local business environment,” said a representative from AGC.

Doug Harwell added, “Running a business teaches us essential skills: problem-solving, listening, and reading situations. As business owners, we encounter daily challenges as we grow. We’re appreciative of AGC’s support, and we’re eager to collaborate with the business community to make Alabama the most business-friendly state in the nation.”

The boundaries of District 34 encompass several areas in the western and northern regions of Mobile County, including Semus, Wilmer, Citronell, Cleola, Axis, and some rural communities north of Mobile City.

The Alabama Republican primary is set for May 19, 2026.
