Drexel Basketball’s Terrence Butler Found Dead In Apartment

Drexel University men’s basketball forward Terrence Butler was found dead in his campus apartment on Wednesday, the school said. No other information is known yet.

An up-and-coming junior from Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Butler Played for a team as a reserve 8 games Spent two seasons with the Dragons.

“On behalf of the entire Drexel community, I extend my deepest condolences to Terrence’s family, friends and teammates,” University President John Frye said in a statement. “In addition to being a student-athlete, Terrence participated in numerous activities and organizations at Drexel and was a friend of many throughout the university community.”

Last season, Butler was named to the Coastal Athletic Association Commissioner’s Academic Honors Roster. Over the past two years, Butler has battled injuries.

Butler is survived by his parents and two sisters.

Outside of basketball, people at Drexel say Butler was the student everyone knew and liked.

“A beautiful man had a wonderful family. Everyone knew him, everyone on campus knew who he was, and he treated everyone the same.” You know what I mean, he’s a good man and he cares about his family.” said Mark Witalek, a Drexel employee. “He was a good boy. He came for breakfast every day. Positive attitude, always upbeat, will definitely miss him,” said Drexel’s Marvin Saunders.
