Maricopa, Arizona (AZFamily) — A crash involving an Arizona Department of Public Safety vehicle in Maricopa, Arizona, Wednesday morning sent the driver to the hospital.
Just before 6:30 a.m., a DPS sergeant was conducting a commercial vehicle inspection. State Route 347, near milepost 177 Authorities say another driver crashed into the officer's patrol truck.

The sergeant was not in the truck at the time, and the truck was parked along Interstate 347 with its emergency lights on.
The officer and the driver of the large tractor-trailer were not injured, but the driver involved in the accident was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to DPS.
Officers suspect the driver was intoxicated.
