One person died Monday morning in a suspected medical accident on Highway 89 near Conoco and Matador Coffee.
Coconino County Sheriff’s Deputy and other First Responders blocked the far right lane of vehicles heading north to Flagstaff, reducing traffic on the freeway.
Coconino County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) spokesman John Paxton said the woman experienced what law enforcement officials considered a medical emergency while behind the wheel of a car. It says. Passers-by found her car tumbling off the road with the driver slumped over the steering wheel, CCSO said. A passerby was able to get the woman out of the vehicle, and when police arrived, she was ruled dead at the scene.
Paxton said the incident was under investigation, but no one was injured, other than the driver. The vehicle did not collide with other vehicles or damage infrastructure.
