EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP — Four people were taken to hospital after a drunk driver crashed into a New Jersey Transit bus along Blackhorse Pike early Sunday morning, police said.

Maze Landing’s Kennedy Dougherty received multiple summonses for the accident, including one for DUI, Egg Harbor Township Police said. Authorities are expected to file criminal charges against him.

A New Jersey Transit bus carrying 10 people, including the driver, was heading west on Black Horse Pike and stopped near the intersection with English Creek at about 3:45 a.m. Sunday. The bus stop is on the shoulder past the intersection.

A 2021 Kia Seltos was hit from behind as the bus was unloading passengers.

Police said Doughty was driving a Kia vehicle that was also traveling west and crossed the solid white line on the shoulder and collided with the bus. Investigators closed the intersection for about an hour.

Five passengers on the bus suffered minor injuries and three were taken to Shore Medical Center. Doughty was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
