DVIDS – News – YPG to participate in Yuma Air Show on Saturday

This time of year is the time to take off your sunscreen, look up to the skies, and witness outstanding aerobatic stunts and breathtaking maneuvers performed by some of the world's most experienced pilots.

On Saturday, March 9, the 58th annual Yuma Air Show will be held at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Yuma.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Admission is free, but you must be at MCAS by noon to gain entry.

A large static exhibit at U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground (YPG) showcases some of the best Army equipment and the dedicated Soldiers and civilians who support YPG's developmental testing mission.

From equipment maintenance checks to vehicle cleaning to poster design, a lot of detail and effort goes into preparing for the big day.

This year's show promises to be an exciting experience for the whole family. Children of all ages can touch and feel some of the military's most sophisticated equipment currently in use on the battlefield. Exhibits at the Yuma Proving Grounds include:

• Joint light tactical vehicle
• M2A3 Bradley Combat Vehicle
• M119A3 105 mm howitzer
•HMMWV
• Exhibition of inert ammunition and small arms replicas.
• Puma Unmanned Aircraft System
• Display of parachutes and other equipment of the Airborne Test Unit.
• Exhibits extensive photos and charts of YPG's three test centers and YPG garrisons, history, people at work, and more.
• Display of parachutes and other equipment at the Military Freefall School
• Army recruiter

Backpacks, coolers, and weapons are not allowed at the air show, and your belongings will be subject to security checks. For more information on specific admission requirements, please visit the air show's website (yumaairshow.com).
