Linda Tilson, Eagle Valley Library District Director, will move in early March to become Director of the Coconino County Public Library in Flagstaff. Tilson has been the director of EVLD for 10 years. During her tenure, she worked with what she describes as a “truly outstanding and dedicated staff” to address the needs of the community and focus on providing top-notch library services.
Highlights of EVLD’s accomplishments over the past decade include the development of the Onecard program, which allows Eagle County students to use their student ID as a library card. Renovation and expansion of the Eagle Library and removal of fines from overdue children’s materials.
During the pandemic, EVLD worked with Eagle County to be designated as an essential service to serve communities in times of need. The EVLD Libraries did not close and, while carefully following the guidance of the Eagle County Public Health Department, quickly developed a plan to provide on-the-road services. This is highly unusual, and Tilson said he was interviewed by The New York Times in April 2020. After the NYT article was published, other libraries around the country began contacting districts to learn more about how services are being delivered while minimizing risk to staff and staff. public. In a time filled with uncertainty, change and wildly differing opinions, Tilson said he was “always inspired by the resilience, innovation and genuine care for the community shown by his members of EVLD’s staff.” Did.
In response to the needs identified by the community through the 2014 and 2021 surveys, the library district has expanded Gypsum Libraries’ hours of operation, implemented automatic renewals of borrowed materials, added self-checkout kiosks and made them more robust. We have built a comprehensive eBook and eAudiobook collection. Shorter wait times for bestsellers. Using information gleaned from the same research, the library has also created Spark Studio, a digital media lab.
While Tilson will miss the dedicated and supportive EVLD Board of Directors, the dedicated and passionate library staff, and working with the great Eagle Valley community, he will serve the diverse Flagstaff and Coconino County communities and will continue to support his grandchildren. We look forward to getting closer to you.
