Thatcher — The Graham County Community College District Board of Trustees has authorized Eastern Arizona College to pursue accreditation for the Bachelor of Music in Music Education and Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences.
Both degrees are expected to start in August 2024, pending approval from the Higher Learning Commission.
Last year, Arizona Senate Bill 1453 was passed, allowing community colleges to offer four-year degrees. Eastern Arizona University helped advance this bill.

The Bachelor of Music in Music Education offers vocal and instrumental tracks leading to a secondary education certificate. The Bachelor of Science in Health Science prepares students for roles in healthcare administration, medical or pharmaceutical sales, and other health-related services.

The EAC accreditation application includes a formal review, site visit and evaluation of all curricula, faculty and facilities. A site visit will take place in September, with final approval expected in October.
If approved, the EAC will seek approval from the US Department of Education to qualify for financial assistance. These action steps ensure that both degrees are recognized as accredited degrees and qualify for transfer to universities for advanced studies.
In parallel, EAC’s music department is pursuing accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).
