Coconino County, the City of Flagstaff and Mountain Line are partnering to hold an educational open house at the Flagstaff Aquaplex on Thursday. During the event, information will be provided about three ballot propositions: Proposition 482, Proposition 487 and Proposition 488. Proposition 482 asks voters to increase the county's spending limits to maintain essential services such as the Sheriff's Office, Public Works and the Department of Health and Human Services. The proposition does not increase or decrease Coconino County taxes. Proposition 487 asks Flagstaff residents to extend the BBB tax, also known as the city's Lodging and Restaurant Trade Privilege Tax. This is also not a tax increase, it just extends the tax for another 15 years. Proposition 488 asks voters to renew the current transportation tax of 29.5 cents per $100 purchases and increase it to 50 cents per $100 purchases. The increase will allow Mountain Line to maintain current service levels and make several improvements to the system, including extending service hours and increasing the frequency of buses. If you have questions, concerns or would like more information about the proposals, there will be an open house on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the Aquaplex, 1702 North Fourth Street in Flagstaff.
