Edward Navarrete Jr | GilaValleyCentral.Net

Edward Navarrete Jr. of Clifton, Arizona was born on January 24, 1938 to Edward Navarrete Sr. and Sabina Chacon Navarrete, and went into eternal rest on June 2, 2023. He is 85 years old.

Shortly after graduating from Morenci High School in 1957, Edward enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Less than a few months after his mother died, he was honorably discharged to feed his siblings. From there, he worked for Phelps Dodge in various departments, eventually retiring as a lead warehouse clerk. His dedication to education motivated him to enroll in classes at Eastern Arizona College. In 1975 Edward met and married his lifelong lover Norma Roman. From this marriage they had a son, Edward III. Edward was blessed with his three grandchildren, Anna Victoria, Edward IV and Thomas.

As an active member of the community, Edward wore many hats. He is most famous for being a Scoutmaster for Boy Scouts of America and receiving the prestigious St. George’s Award. He is a proud member of the Clifton Booster Club, Sacred Heart Fundraising and Regional Bereavement Commissions, Sacred Heart Choir, Member and President of the Lions Club, Greenlee County Supervisory Candidate, Greenlee County Democratic Party, and Clifton・He was also the Grand Marshal of the Light Parade. His humor, joy in singing and dancing, and his lifelong dedication to rooting for the Arizona Wildcats and Lute Olsen qualities will be remembered.

Edward is survived by a son, Edward Navarrete III (Alondra), who lives in Sahuarita, Arizona. His three grandchildren, Anna Victoria, Edward IV and Thomas. His siblings Teresa Chavez (Ignacio), Angelita Trejo (Alfredo), Al Navarrete (Monica), Josie Mendoza, Cecilia Peru (Bobby), Ernie Navarrete (Becky), Natalia Navarrete (Danny) , Edwina Gray (Wayne) many nephews, nieces, children of God, and his dog, Duke.

He is predeceased by his parents, wife Norma, brothers Gloria Perez and Alfredo Navarrete, dog Zoe, and many beloved pets.
