Officials said the fire broke out on Saturday night and multiple departments rushed to the rescue.
ARIZONA, USA — A house fire in St. John’s claimed the life of an elderly man over the weekend, officials said. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
St. John’s Emergency Services and the St. John’s Police Department At 10:09 pm, a fire broke out near 24 West and 4 North of the small town, and first responders were told that all residents of the single-family home had exited the building.
At about 10:14 p.m., officers on the scene learned that an elderly man was still inside the residence. The officer reportedly entered the house to find the man, but had to retreat due to a high fever and heavy smoke.

Paramedics were able to enter the house and found an old man who was taken to a hospital in Springerville. The 72-year-old man later died of his injuries in hospital.
Firefighters from the Round Valley Fire and Medical, Concho Volunteer Fire, and Apache County Emergency Management departments also helped put out the fire.
Officials said the fire is still under investigation and will be released as more information becomes available.
The 72-year-old man has not been identified at this time.
