SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (KVOA) – An elderly woman and her husband were airlifted to a Tucson hospital after being randomly attacked during their daily walk.
Just before 9 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, the Cochise County Sheriff's Office received a report of an assault in a residential area south of Sierra Vista.
Diane and Charles Osborne were reportedly randomly attacked by 37-year-old Kyle Stoll during their morning walk.
Both victims suffered serious injuries, but CCSO said they were able to return to their home to seek help.
When they arrived, the Osbornes were said to have serious injuries and were bleeding from their faces and heads.
Mr Osborne suffered serious facial injuries and serious head and scalp injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
The injuries to Mrs. Osborne's face were so severe, including a broken nose and bleeding on the brain, that air transport was requested to airlift her to a Tucson hospital for further treatment.
The victims told CCSO that Stoll had been following them on their daily walks.
CCSO said the couple crossed the street multiple times to avoid Stoll because Stoll was yelling at them and they didn't understand.
The Osborns said Stoll eventually approached them in an aggressive manner, and Osborn pushed him backwards as he got too close.
Stoll then reportedly attacked them with his fists, hitting them multiple times in the face and head area.
According to the Osborne family's attacker's account, Stoll was found covered in blood walking near Sagebrush and Sao Paulo.
Stoll was treated for a hand injury and will be charged with two counts of aggravated assault, CCSO said.
The investigation remains ongoing by the Cochise County Sheriff's Office.
