Four Northwestern University faculty members were arrested on suspicion of obstructing law enforcement during a pro-Palestinian camp in April, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
The instructors were charged with a Class A misdemeanor, which could carry a maximum sentence of one year in jail and a $2,500 fine, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. reportThe university declined to discuss individual cases, saying it could not comment because the litigation is ongoing, but noted that the charges had been filed with the Cook County State's Attorney's Office.

“While the university permits peaceful demonstrations, it does not permit activities that disrupt university operations, violate the law, or involve intimidation or harassment of members of the local community,” Yates told DCNF.

Northwestern University President Michael Schill acknowledged to Congress in May that only a small number of students who participated in the protests had been disciplined for violating university policies, and after a week of camping, the university reached an agreement with the protesters to consider divestment from Israel.
The agreement was praised by faculty and other educational leaders, but three Jewish groups called for Schill's resignation, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
