Reactions Emerge After Capitol Riot
In the wake of the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021, there’s been some intense reactions, particularly from Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren. She has connected the unrest to the assassination of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA.
In newly surfaced footage, Kirk expressed his frustration, saying that the left is unjustly blaming him for violence and pointing fingers at Trump for fostering a harmful atmosphere. He mentioned something about the president’s actions, citing, “Maybe start with the president of the United States and the crude memes he shared.” There seemed to be a mix of sorrow and anger in his comments.
Watch: Senator Elizabeth Warren responds to Charlie Kirk’s death and calls for more gun control laws.
She also criticized the media, suggesting that Trump’s influence has “raised temperatures” across the nation.

In another development, FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that a suspect was apprehended after a search following the incident. The shooter was, apparently, the first suspect taken into police custody.
Meanwhile, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker weighed in, noting that political violence has drastically increased in the US, with the Capitol riot being a key example. He remarked, “There are people who are gross in this country regarding political violence, and the president’s rhetoric often fuels that.”
As Kirk remained hospitalized, MSNBC host Katy Tur characterized him as a divisive figure due to his ties to the MAGA movement. Additionally, political analyst Matthew Dowd argued that Kirk’s so-called “hate speech” made him a likely target for such violence.
