Elmo’s X Account Hacked
Elmo released a statement on Tuesday, just two days after his “Sesame Street” X account was compromised. The character’s account was hacked on Sunday, despite existing security protocols. The statement denounced the hateful anti-Semitic and racist posts made by the intruder, assuring followers that the account has been secured since the incident.
“These posts never reflect the values of Sesame Workshop or Sesame Street,” the statement emphasized, clarifying that no one from the organization was involved in the troubling content. After the breach, Sesame Workshop acted quickly to restore security, although details of the investigation and the measures taken afterward weren’t disclosed.
On Sunday, multiple posts were made from Elmo’s account, some promoting anti-Semitic messages while others targeted President Trump, calling for the release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. The hacker even made insinuating remarks about Trump’s links to Epstein.
A representative from Sesame Workshop labeled the posts as “abhorrent,” informing Elmo’s followers, who number around 650,000, that the offensive content originated from unknown hackers.
Despite the upheaval, Elmo stated in a later tweet, “Thank you for being kind to Elmo and all the people in your neighborhood. Elmo loves you.” The quick response and assurance of security seem to reflect the organization’s commitment to its values, even in the wake of this unsettling violation.
