Elon Musk announced Tuesday that he plans to significantly reduce his role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Speaking during Tesla’s revenue calls, Musk said his involvement with Doge has declined “significantly” since May, calling most of his reform efforts “almost complete.” It has been reported. But Musk said he will remain loosely involved to ensure Katt sticks through the rest of President Donald Trump’s term.
“I have to keep doing that, so I think the rest of the presidential term will do it if it gives me the chance just to ensure that the waste and fraud we stopped will come back,” Musk said. “I think I’m going to continue to spend one or two days a week on government issues as long as the President wants me to do that,” he said.
Musk’s dual role as Tesla’s CEO and CZAR of federal efficiency has sparked more scrutiny among investors expressing concern that his political entanglement is hurting the brand. In the phone, Musk said Tesla took “several road collisions” for his alliance with Trump, but added that the company is on track.

“I encourage people to look beyond the bumps and stupidity of the road right in front of us,” Musk said. “I lift your gaze to the bright, shining fortress on the hill – I don’t know, Reagan-style images – and that’s where we’re heading.” (Related: “Let your people stop the fire bombs” Tesla facility, Fox host tells Democrat strategists)
Protests targeting Musk and Tesla escalated in March, destroying and flapping some charging stations. US Attorney General Pam Bondy said the three suspects will be charged with using Molotov cocktails to destroy Tesla’s property, adding that he “faces the full power of the law.”

After Trump took office in January, his administration directed Musk and Kuzi to consider federal spending and identify areas where taxpayers can save money. Criticism from Democrats escalated in February after Musk said he and Trump agreed to overhaul the US Agency for International Development (USAID) with X.
Musk said the agency was wasting billions with taxpayer funds. He also said several initiatives supported by USAID have pushed forward the far left agenda overseas, risking indirect support of extremist groups and controversial foreign institutions.
