Gavin Adcock Confronts Nickelback Crew During Performance
On Saturday, Gavin Adcock paused his performance to confront a member of the Nickelback crew during a heated exchange.
The rising country music star shared on social media that he was defending his father against the sound technician for Nickelback at the Rock the Country Festival in Anderson, South Carolina. Tensions escalated when the crew reportedly clashed with Adcock’s father.
Footage circulating online shows Adcock quickly leaving the stage to address the situation. The sound guy allegedly attempted to remove Adcock’s father from the venue.
“Hey, I’ll let you know something really quickly,” Adcock said. “Hi, buddy, you’re going to lose your terrible job for that. You better back off.”
According to the video clips, there was no physical confrontation, and security intervened promptly to defuse the situation.
Adcock later elaborated on Instagram, explaining, “My dad taught me to stand up for what’s right, especially for yourself, and that’s exactly what I did.”
He explained that the sound technician seemed upset about an empty drink left on the soundboard, which actually belonged to his mother, who plays acoustic guitar. Adcock elaborated, “The sound guy turned the corner, saw the drink, and flipped out. It was empty, by the way – and he ended up kicking my acoustic guitar player mom out.”
Adcock described how his father reacted: “He hears it probably from about 5-10 yards away, takes a step forward, and gets right in the guy’s face, basically saying, ‘You better have a backup.’”
The country singer remarked that the sound technician “called for backup like a little snake,” insisting he was trying to escalate the matter. “I was singing ‘Cigarettes’ and saw security heading toward my father. I just told them, ‘No, you can’t kick him out – he’s not the problem here.'” Security eventually escorted the technician away.
Fans rallied behind Adcock, praising his loyalty and his approach to handling the situation. Meanwhile, Nickelback has yet to publicly comment on the incident.
