Employee Arrested for Allegedly Threatening to Kill Marjorie Taylor Greene and Her Staff

Former Employee Arrested for Threatening Calls to Rep. Greene

Authorities detained a former employee on Thursday following accusations of making several threatening calls directed at Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene and her team.

Seth Jason, 45, a former voice employee, faces significant charges related to interstate communications with the intent to threaten harm to family members. The Department of Justice (DOJ) confirmed this information. Jason was apprehended early this morning by Capitol Police and the Anne Arundel Police Department.

The indictment suggests that between October 2023 and January 2025, Jason allegedly made eight threatening calls to Greene’s district offices located in Dalton and Rome, Georgia.

Greene expressed her concerns, stating, “For 15 months, I endured a distressing death threat from someone who had worked very closely to my office. Such ongoing targeted harassment is incredibly unsettling. It’s not free speech when an elected official, their family, or staff are threatened. It’s a crime that needs to be prosecuted vigorously. My family and I are deeply thankful for the pursuit of justice.”

If convicted, Jason could face serious repercussions, including a potential 10-year prison sentence related to threats against federal officials. Additionally, if found guilty of making interstate communications with the intent to frighten or harm, he might receive up to five years. Harassment via telecommunications can lead to sentences of up to two years in prison, with the final sentence being determined by the court under U.S. guidelines.

In light of recent political violence, officials are particularly vigilant about threats. This includes the tragic incident involving the murder of Democratic Minnesota Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband during a politically motivated attack. The suspect is believed to have impersonated a law enforcement officer before the incident, and police later captured Vance Luther Boerter after an extensive manhunt.
